Does the Size of a Laptop Really Matter?
The question in computing has become, “Does computer portability really matter or is it more important to have an all powerful computer that allows you to fit all your software and save as many data files as will fit on your computer?” Another issue may be whether the smaller sizes are more useful or if the light-weight portability is the chief issue. I think the accessibility of different types of computers now lets us really personalize our productivity machines into something that works for all of us and doesn’t always have to be standard for all.
The release of the state of the art macbookair by Apple has really given us options with the size and what kind of computer we lug around with us all the time. At less than 3 pounds and wafer thin, we don’t have to strain our shoulders every time we walk to class. It has a 13 inch display and a normal keyboard. Why wouldn’t I be interested? This is the very attribute I have been calling for.
When I first witnessed the youtube video for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to transport laptop coming out of that little brown envelope, I was simply in awe. Now, that’s the solution I’ve been hunting for. Now it doesn’t have to be a workout to take my portable computer with me anymore! No extra bag that can weigh likely as much as the laptop computer, no more sweating, no longer taking up all that extra room! What a marvel!
The age old question of whether size really matters is in front of us now and my answer, when it comes to a compact portable notebook computer is a resounding, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter and so does weight. For me and my laptop smaller is by far and away better.
